What You'll Run

Students train across the full range — from indicating a vise on a Bridgeport to programming simultaneous 5-axis toolpaths in Mastercam. Every machine on the floor is tracked by serial number in the shop tracker.

Haas VF-2

×2
40-Taper Vertical Machining Center

The workhorse of the CNC side. Where students learn work offsets, tool offsets, fixturing, and their first real production programs out of Mastercam.

  • Travels (X/Y/Z)30" × 16" × 20"
  • Spindle8,100 RPM
  • TaperCT/BT 40
  • ControlHaas NGC

Haas UMC-750

×1
5-Axis Universal Machining Center

Integrated dual-axis trunnion — B-axis tilt with a C-axis rotary table on top — for full simultaneous 5-axis work. Students learn TCPC/DWO, tool vectors, MRZP calibration, and multiaxis programming.

  • Travels (X/Y/Z)30" × 20" × 20"
  • RotaryB tilt + C rotate
  • Spindle8,100 RPM
  • ProbingWIPS equipped

Haas TM-1P

×2
CNC Toolroom Mill

The bridge from manual to CNC. Same Haas control as the VF-2, but simple enough to run conversationally — ideal for a student's first program.

  • ClassToolroom / 40-taper
  • ControlHaas NGC
  • Best forFirst CNC parts

Haas ST-10

×3
CNC Turning Center

Compact high-performance lathe. Turning, facing, grooving, threading, and drilling — plus tool nose radius compensation and canned turning cycles.

  • Chuck6"
  • Turret12-station
  • ControlHaas NGC

Haas ST-20Y

×1
Y-Axis Turning Center · Live Tooling

Live tooling with C-axis and Y-axis travel — mill flats, drill off-center holes, and cut cross-features without ever leaving the lathe. Done-in-one work.

  • Chuck8" / 10"
  • ExtrasLive tools, C + Y axis
  • Turret12-station

Mitsubishi Wire EDM

×1
Wire Electrical Discharge Machining

Cuts hardened tool steel and carbide to tenths with no cutting force. Punches, dies, sharp internal corners, and profiles no endmill can reach.

  • ProcessWire EDM
  • ThreadingAutomatic
  • MaterialAny conductive

Mitsubishi Sinker EDM

×1
Ram / Die-Sinker EDM

Burns blind cavities, keyways, and square internal corners with a shaped graphite or copper electrode. Also the shop's answer to a broken tap.

  • ProcessSinker / ram EDM
  • ElectrodesGraphite / copper
  • Best forBlind cavities

Bridgeport Knee Mills

×10
Manual Vertical Milling

Where every machinist starts. Tramming the head, indicating a vise, edge finding, boring heads, rotary tables, and reading a drawing before a control ever helps you.

  • Machines#25–30, #36–39
  • TypeKnee mill, R8
  • SkillsLayout, setup, feel

Engine Lathes

×9
Modern Standard Manual Turning

Turning between centers, four-jaw indicating, single-point threading, taper attachments, and knurling — the fundamentals CNC turning is built on.

  • Machines#1–9
  • TypeManual engine lathe
  • SkillsSingle-point threading

Drill Press

×1
Support Equipment

Layout work, spot drilling, tapping, countersinking, and deburring — plus a lesson in why speeds and feeds matter even on the simplest machine in the shop.

  • TypeFloor drill press
  • UsesLayout, tapping

Zeiss Contura CMM

×1
Coordinate Measuring Machine · Calypso

Bridge-type CMM running Calypso. Students learn stylus qualification, alignment strategy, feature construction, and true-position GD&T evaluation.

  • SoftwareZEISS Calypso
  • TypeBridge CMM
  • OutputGD&T reports

Inspection Bench

Shop-wide
Hand Metrology

Micrometers, calipers, height gages, gage blocks, indicators, pin gages, and surface plates — because a part is only good if you can prove it.

  • Covers0.0001" resolution
  • SkillsGage R&R, calibration
The Shop Tracker

Know Who's On What, Right Now

A lightweight, purpose-built shop-floor system — no bloated ERP. Students clock onto a machine by name, the instructor sees the floor at a glance, and tool crib checkouts stop walking out the door.

  • Live machine assignment

See which student is on which machine, by serial number, in real time.

  • Learning guide progress

Track where every student stands in the curriculum without a clipboard.

  • Tool crib checkout

Bin barcode scan, per-tool quantities, partial returns, and overdue flagging across 250+ tool types.

  • Works on any device

Cloud-hosted, so it syncs from the shop floor tablet to the office PC to a phone.
